Sourdough Doughnuts

Making sourdough means you have to discard a part of it every single day, why let it go waste when you can easily turn it into a simple dessert that's satisfying to the soul as well as your eyes?!

After all, eyes are the window to your soul, right?

Ok, enough philosophy!

Here's the recipe

85g Sourdough discard

40g Milk

25g Sugar

1/2tsp Yeast (my sourdough is just a day old, so not strong enough. Optional if your sourdough is at optimum level)

170g Flour

1/4th tsp salt

Pinch of baking soda if you're planning to fry them.

Make a sticky dough with all the above ingredients. Knead for 8-10 mins until the dough isn't sticky anymore. Portion out 7 dough balls that are 45g each. Rest for 5 mins.

Flatten and make a hole in the centre of each ball. Omg, this sounds weird, just think of the doughnuts while reading this, please!

Set aside for 20 mins, don't forget to cover them. Fry on medium-low heat, on both sides until golden brown.

Toss in sugar as soon as they are out of the fryer. I used Rose Sugar 😍

These turned out really yummm...
